PULLING WIRES/PULLING STRINGS: DAVE SCHOENWALD

By Betty Michelozzi

He amazed us on our June worktrip to San Juan La Laguna, Guatemala, as he pulled electrical wires in the twenty little Habitat for Humanity houses being built in San Juan La Laguna, Guatemala. Dave Schoenwald at the San Juan La Laguna, Guatemala Worksite

On his return he determined to raise money for this worthy project. He decided to display and offer for sale the many beautiful photos he has taken over the years. He had to pull a lot of strings: Los Gatos gallery owner Linda Darnell donated not only her beautiful space but her time and support. Elizabeth Bell, civic leader in Antigua, Guatemala shipped friendship bracelets, a gift which delighted the many folks who came to see the display. Beautiful invitations were printed. The wine and souvenir wine glasses from Four Vines Winery of Paso Robles and finger food provided at cost were donated by Dave. The sale of his framed photos was brisk, with all proceeds donated to the IF/Guatemala Program. Money has been wired down to purchase four residential lots for families still homeless from Hurricane Stan.

Dave is bringing a bright light to families living in poverty in more ways than one.
